Do I have to pay anything for the mobile app? Expand/Collapse

Absolutely not. The HMECU Mobile Banking is free for our members to download, and you will never be charged for using the app. However, since the mobile app uses data, your carrier may charge, so standard data and messaging rates may apply.

How do I download the mobile app on my phone or tablet? Expand/Collapse

For Apple® Users

The HMECU Mobile App can be downloaded by following these steps:

  1. Using your iPhone® or iPad®, search for "HMECU" in the App Store.
  2. Select the app icon, and verify that the author of the app is HMECU.
  3. Tap the icon marked "Free", then tap again when it changes to "Install".
  4. Enter your App Store password and you're done!

For Android Users

The HMECU Mobile App can be downloaded by following these steps:

  1. Using your Android phone or tablet, search for "HMECU" in the Google Play Store.
  2. Select the app icon, and verify that the author of the app is HMECU.
  3. Tap the icon marked "Install", then tap "Accept" on the next screen and you're done!

What services are available on the HMECU mobile app? Expand/Collapse

  • You can deposit cheques directly from your smartphone or tablet using Deposit Anywhere
  • You can access your personal accounts to make transfers and bill payments
  • Send and receive Interac e-Transfers®
  • View your subaccount transaction history, and sort or search for specific items including cheques or bill payments
  • View your loan, mortgage and investment account details
  • Find us with the branch and ATM locator, search for the nearest location using your device's GPS (this feature also displays THE EXCHANGE Network ATMs nearest you for convenience)

What is Remember Me? Expand/Collapse

Remember Me allows your device to remember your alias for faster and easier logins. When Remember Me is turned on, you will not be prompted to answer one of your security questions each time you login. Your PAC will never be stored on your device.

What is QuickView? Expand/Collapse

The unique QuickView feature displays the balances of your selected accounts at any time the app is open, without needing to login first. The default setting of the QuickView feature is "Off". You can turn QuickView on under Settings -> Account Preferences on the mobile app. Do not enable QuickView if you are using a shared device.

How do I disable QuickView? Expand/Collapse

You can disable QuickView at any time on the Mobile App under Settings -> Saved Logins, by deleting your saved login. You can also disable QuickView from displaying your balances on by un-pairing it on our banking website. To do this:

  1. Login to your online banking on HMECU's full website.
  2. Choose "Account Services" from the left menu.
  3. Click on "Mobile Banking App". This will show all of the devices that you have enabled QuickView on.
  4. To disable QuickView, you can click "Remove" beside the device to deactivate the feature for security purposes. Devices removed from this list will no longer display your balances on screen unless logged in.

How can I protect my security and privacy? Expand/Collapse

There are some simple steps you should take to ensure the security of your information and protect your privacy when you use the HMECU mobile banking app, the same as when you transact online from your computer. They include the following:

  • Set up a password on your device and commit this password to memory.
  • Check the authenticity of your app by ensuring the app being downloaded is from HMECU.
  • Protect your Alias and PAC as they are key to accessing your accounts. Do not reveal them to anyone or write them down anywhere.
  • Do not choose passwords that include your name, telephone number, address, or birthday, or those of any close friend or relative.
  • Never leave your mobile device unattended while using HMECU’s mobile app.
  • Be sure to log out after you finish using the mobile app.
  • Never connect to public or unknown Wi-Fi in order to do any mobile banking.

If my device is stolen, will my information be at risk? Expand/Collapse

Your account can only be accessed by entering your personal access code (PAC). However, if you've activated the QuickView feature, your account balances will be visible. For additional security, we recommend you enable a password on your device and keep your password protected.

If your phone is lost or stolen, you should contact your mobile carrier right away to deactivate it.

Please note at any time you can stop the mobile app from displaying your balances on QuickView by un-pairing it on our banking website. Please see the question above "How do I disable QuickView?"

I'm using a different brand of smartphone or tablet other than Apple or Android. Can I still access mobile banking? Expand/Collapse

Yes. You can continue to bank using our full-featured mobile site at: hmecu.com/m/

How do I remove the app from my phone or tablet? Expand/Collapse

For Apple® Users

Removing the app is as easy as tapping and holding your finger down on the HMECU Mobile Banking app icon, then tapping the "X" in the top right corner to delete the app.

For Android Users

If you've installed an app on your phone or tablet using Google Play that you no longer want, you can uninstall it by following these steps:

  1. Visit your device's Settings menu > Apps or Application Manager (this may differ depending on your device).
  2. Touch the app you'd like to uninstall.
  3. Select "Uninstall".
